A quantitative analyst uses numerical or quantitative techniques to analyze large data sets and build systems designed to improve performance. Responsibilities include working with complex data sets, solving difficult problems, and communicating results and methods.
The quantitative analyst develops plans for improving the quality and the types of data used in business analysis. Candidates will develop and improve company data analysis and efficiency.
Quantitative Analyst positions within small to large companies are responsible for providing timely and critical information to the overall development of business operations. At financial trading organizations, they will work closely with other analysts, research, and other front office areas to build models and strategies to maximize trading profits and minimize risk.
Quantitative Analyst Job Description
The following experience is required for employment:
- PhD in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics or equivalent work experience is required
- 1-10 years of quantitative analysis experience
- Statistical and data mining experience preferred
- Experience with R/Splus, Matlab, C++
- Experience with Python, Perl, SQL is desired
- Proficiency in database and scripting or programming languages
- Ability to draw conclusions from data and recommend actions
- Experience working with large datasets
- Coursework in Bayesian methods, longitudinal analysis, probability and experimental design desirable
The salary range for this job is $80,000 to $250,000. Compensation and benefits are competitive and based on background and work experience.
